Welcome to Day 5

As you already saw, we did a little puddle jumping of our own yesterday. I hope you didn’t let a bit of rain stop you from getting out, if that was what the weather had in store for you.

Today I’ve decided, we’re taking a trip. Now, you could tag along on my trip, but you probably want to take your own, so this is what we’re doing. Unless a trip is already in the works, you aren’t really going anywhere physically.  But really, at the very least, you’re going to plan it. Although there are many known health benefits to actual travel, did you know, according to WebMD, “… the biggest boost in happiness comes from planning the vacation”? So while taking the trip might be more exciting, the planning process is actually good for you. Why not give it a try, right?

This trip you’re taking doesn’t have to be a great distance away from you, but I think it only makes sense to try to stretch your imagination farther than ‘the cottage’ or a trip to the nearest city. You know what I’m saying. The easiest way to decide where you’re going to go is to answer this question: If money were no object — and perhaps it isn’t, for you, but just play along — where would you take a trip if you could go anywhere in the world? Remember, money isn’t an issue. I have more virtual dollars than I can shake a stick at, so I’ve got you covered. We’re just pretending. Oh, and if geography isn’t your thing, check out this map, to help with ideas.

I know you likely have a busy life, so when I say research, don’t make it an all-day affair if you can’t manage it. But the idea revolving around this trip is to actually take the time to research the places you’d like to go. Once you decide on a country, narrow it down further and further, until you’re comfortable with your choice. If you already have a place in mind, try to research the places you’ll go out to eat, or for entertainment, even. Keep in mind: money doesn’t matter, which means, to flights and hotel costs… we say pfffftttt! You said that out loud, didn’t you? Oh, and I’d rather be deciding what luxurious hotel I want to stay at, wouldn’t you? Budgeting isn’t always a topic that brings happiness into your life, so for today, we’re throwing it right out the window. Don’t you feel better already?

Trip – Planning Starter List

As you can see, this could be a more-than-just-one-day challenge, so limit yourself and stop when you must. If you need a guide to help you ‘plan’ your trip, these are some of the things you should be thinking about.

What accommodations would you like to explore?

Where will you eat? Fine dining? Fast-food? Sports Bar?

What forms of entertainment/events are you looking to enjoy? Sports? Operas? Live Music?

Where would you like to shop?

Are there recreational activities you would like to explore?

What sites/sights would you like to see or say you’ve seen before you come back home?

What special activity might you consider that would be exclusive to this trip?

Of course, I am sure you can come up with a bunch of your own, but hopefully this is enough to get you started.

Let me know in the comments section below where you took your trip.

Until next time…

Remember: Life is what you make it. Take lots of pictures.

Now that WAS quite the challenge – there’s just so much of both Canada and the world to see! The continent of Africa has always beckoned me, so I think my first stop would be Bwindi Forest National Park in Uganda. That was a tough call though!

Love it! I’m so glad you took the plunge 🙂 Spain has always had my heart. I hope to not just plan it virtually for the rest of my life. though.
